Experimenting with Sculptural Typography is an exploration into turning ideas and physical objects into letterforms. During this four week workshop, we will dive into sculptural approaches, working with materials and executing concepts through creative prompts and discussions.

This course is for all levels, and is for you if you want to experiment with analog design work and play with typography as something that is physical and flexible. You will gain fundamental skills in sculptural processes — and a better understanding of how analog and fine arts approaches can be integrated into your design work in surprising and exciting ways.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn the fundamentals of sculpture and how to apply these ideas to typography and design
  • Gain more confidence in your ability to incorporate analog methods into your type work
  • Develop a type-based poster using sculptural approaches and experimentation
