In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn to vibe code small apps from scratch that connect to real data! From the weather forecast to Pokémon stats, we’ll explore how to use APIs to make your projects feel more real. By the end of the workshop, you will have built your own project from start to finish. No coding experience is required and all tools are supported including Figma Make, Cursor, and Claude Code.

Learning Outcomes

To understand what an API is and when to use one, use AI coding tools like Cursor to vibe code apps and websites, and build a working project using the Met Museum API.

Facilitator Bio

Elizabeth Lin

Elizabeth is an independent design educator whose love for design began in the early internet days of Neopets, creating playful graphics and websites with tools like MS Paint. She currently runs an online design school called design is a party where she teaches designers visual design and prototyping with AI tools.

Scholarships

Index scholarships are designed to benefit members of our community who do not have expendable cash to pay for the course and those for whom the class price is inaccessible. These need-based scholarships will go to candidates who best demonstrate a need for a fully-funded seat to the course. Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:

  • Belong to groups that are traditionally underrepresented in creative industries
  • Do not have jobs that would pay for these courses as professional development
  • Cannot independently afford the class at list price
  • Share our value of intentional community

The number of selected applicants chosen is subject to the discretion of Index and the instructor. Each course will select at least one. Apply for a scholarship here.
