Join us for a guest lecture by AI policy expert and poet Serena Dokuaa Oduro as she poses the question “Do we need AI or do we need Black feminisms?” Drawing from her poetic guide published in the book Fake AI and her work advocating for AI governance on the national and state level, Serena will root our conception of AI in the political and social forces that guide its development and help us explore what it would look like for technological development to be rooted in Black feminist interests.

Popcorn, candy, and a wine bar will be available. Donations are encouraged with a portion of proceeds benefitting Free Black Women’s Library.

Adam Nye is an event producer with a background in informal learning and community engagement across museums, schools, and cultural spaces. Living Room Lectures builds community through learning and conversation. Each gathering features one guest giving a short lecture on a queer topic.

Serena Dokuaa Oduro is an AI policy expert and poet focused on using both mediums to empower the public. Serena is the Policy Manager at Data & Society Research Institute, where she leads the organization’s state-level policy engagement. She is a HUMAN fellow and 2025 DISCO research network affiliate, both in support of her poetic work which is rooted in a Black feminist critique of AI.
