Take a deep dive into the life and work of electronic music pioneer Wendy Carlos.

We’ll look at how her work with the Moog synthesizer reshaped modern music and how her public transition influenced early conversations around transgender identity.

Drawing on archival interviews and musical excerpts, we’ll follow her story in her own words while considering her lasting influence and questioning how to honor the legacy of a private artist.

As many of us prepare for Wire Festival, an event highlighting today's most exciting voices in underground techno/house, this lecture offers a moment to consider how her innovations continue to shape the music heard in clubs around the world and right here in our own city.

Popcorn, candy, and an open wine bar will be available. Donations are encouraged with a portion of proceeds benefitting XYZ.

A limited number of free and discounted tickets are available for those who need them. In recognition of Wendy Carlos, we are prioritizing access for trans attendees. We are also looking for volunteers. Please contact us at livingroomlecturesnyc@gmail.com (mailto:livingroomlecturesnyc@gmail.com) to inquire.
