Join Associate Curator Isabella Nimmo and artist Natalia Lassalle-Morillo or a special after-hours introduction to Amant and its artistic program.

Amant is a non-profit arts organization in Brooklyn, NY, founded in 2019. It is a non-collecting learning institution, focusing on experimentation, process, and dialogue through exhibitions, public programs, and artist residencies. Its purpose-built space is currently featured in the MoMA exhibition ‘Architecture Now: New York, New Publics’, open through July 29.

This event will begin with a curatorial tour of Amant’s multi-purpose space and current exhibitions: Sung Tieu’s ‘Infra-Specter’ (March 30 – Sept 10) and Helen Cammock’s ‘Bass Notes and SiteLines’ (March 23 – June 18). We will then join Natalia for an artist talk centering her upcoming project ‘En Parábola: Conversations on Tragedy’ which began during her time as an Amant Studio & Research resident.

Natalia Lassalle-Morillo is a theater director, filmmaker, performer, visual artist, and educator whose work reconstructs history through a transdisciplinary approach to research, form, and narrative. Melding theatrical performance, intuitive experimental ethnography, and collaborations with non-trained performers, Natalia’s practice centers on excavating imagined and archived history.

Isabella Nimmo is an organizer of artistic projects. Prior to Amant, she was Assistant Curator of Public Programs at the Tate in London and a Producer at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. A social historian in another life, Isabella is especially interested in works that incorporate historiographical elements and allow for new ways of understanding and experiencing the past.

All proceeds from this event will go to the artist.
